The Kind Heart Bench Project

Grove Primary School entire Management Team must be commended for introducing The Kind Heart Bench Project. Learners opted in to become peer support and certificated to help and come alongside those dealing with depression and anxiety. A social innovation project focuses primarily on Mental Health Issues, during Covid -19 and the 'new pandemic' depression, anxiety, amongst others and the effects and impact of bullying - using the bench as a visual aid. Partnering with Hope House Counselling, we have our workshops facilitating trauma informed for teachers. And peer mentoring with school kids - in workspaces, identifying anyone who particularly shows empathy and kindness and offering training for them. Just one Headline reads... 'Discovery warns of a pandemic of mental illness in wake of Covid-19 disruptions. Rise of 16% in psychology-related claims as pandemic triggers a surge in anxiety and depression' https://youtu.be/7M3Jgg1K4e8 https://www.southernsuburbstatler.co.za/news/new-school-bench-provides-a-safe-space-for-pupils-23a5d613-c3db-462d-90f9-67a9a140180c *The Kind Heart Bench is placed clearly visible, in a space with most access to students. *The objective is to encourage peer to peer conversations, open discussions which will aid in the overall wellbeing of learners. *Is a visual reminder, where you can sit, relax, take a breath, offering a safe space, to connect with others – sharing their stories and engaging openly with one another. -Promote the healthy social and emotional development of all children and youth -Recognize when young people are at risk for or are experiencing mental health problems and identify and intervene early and appropriately when there are problems. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=986706598559703 The Kind Heart Bench will be a permanent reminder to students, public to take a minute out of their day to sit, breathe and talk about their mental health and that of their peers, offering a safe space to connect with others, openly sharing their stories and ideas. Poor school

Hate the school it’s so annoying and there’s to much rules. The children is rude and disrespectful and the teachers are not equal. they believe in no bullying but yet they bully the children.

Golden grove

Since 2005 to date we have watched the decline of the school from a 5 star to a 3 star.

The school has had 3 principles since 2005. There has been many challenges and unhappiness faced over the past few years resulting in high turn over of staff and students leaving for other schools.

There are however many good educators at the school and the education is in line with Caps system.

Change is very slow at this school and it can be frustrating.

With utilization of technology this school is not where it should be with moving with the times.

Sports is a huge problem with current coaches not being on par to enhance or improve the skills of the students. Several complaints have been lodged but unfortunately change is excruciatingly slow due to a culture that exists that does not understand the urgent need for sport and changes that needs to be effected. Hence if considering this school please make sure your child is playing for a club or be mindful that this is a problem area.

Bullying has and does exist and unfortunately it is an evil in our world as a whole.

Costs of the school it is overpriced...for what the school provides at this stage there are better schools that are more cost effective.

Grade R is over R16000
Grade 1 onwards approximately R10800 and more

The positive of the school

The location of the school is excellent

Fairly good security

There are amazing educators at the school.

The parents and children are a great bunch and children are happy.

It is a beautiful school that has alot of potential.

Why do we remain at the school ...because our child is almost done at Golden Grove and our child is happy.
