To be very honest, after attending several open days, I would rate Sunward Christian Academy (Primary School) a 4/10. For me, the social media hype created expectations that simply weren’t met when I arrived. Considering the level of fees they charge, I struggled to see the value.
Their main selling points appear to be the Christian foundation and smaller class sizes, but beyond that I didn’t notice any additional value or anything that suggested my son would receive a particularly distinctive or enriched experience.
In comparison, Curro Parkdene offered a much stronger overall impression from facilities and teachers to customer service, fees, and the general experience. Curro has a dedicated robotics lab, where each child works on an actual laptop, which builds practical and advanced digital skills. At Sunward, the technology activities appeared to be more basic, with Lego-style tasks and older PCs.
The play area also felt quite small and crowded, and I didn’t see much in terms of sporting infrastructure such as a field, swimming pool, or notable extracurricular facilities. Since they also follow the CAPS curriculum, as Curro does, it left me wondering what exactly the premium fees are covering.
While everyone was friendly and they created a welcoming atmosphere for parents, I personally didn’t get a strong sense of care, sincerity, or differentiation.
That said, this is purely based on my observation during about an hour spent at the primary school, so I could be mistaken. However, when compared with other schools I’ve visited, this one unfortunately ranked the lowest for me.
If you are looking for a school educationally. That's the school ,The teachers really know each child's performance so they don't sleep until the child understands. Happy teachers.Spiritually my child is learning a lot about the Bible that small time they do Bible.
Awesome school with the best teachers. My three children loved the years they attended SCA. Loving teachers and an environment where my kids felt safe. We miss you sunward Christian Academy. Keep up the good work.
I started my schooling career as a Grade 0 student in 2000 in SCA. Twelve years later I matriculated in SCA. Being in a smaller private school meant that I had teachers that were invested in my development. When I reflect back on my life it is hard to imagine where I would be if not for my schooling at SCA. I'm really proud to be a Sunward Christian Academy learner.
This school really cares about the individual child. Teachers are inspired and more than happy to go the extra mile to help each child. It is a nurturing Christian environment where academic and emotional support is given with devotion.
