Matric

St Dominic's laid the foundation for me to suceed in the real world

As an old girl who matriculated in 1980 i think this is probably the best schooling that any young girl could have. In life discipline is of the utmost importance as it builds resilience in an individual. St Dom's instilled this in us - i spent my entire school career at this school from kindergarten to Matric. Sure we did bot have a range of sibjects to choose from but the values and morals that were instilled in is have carried me through many a difficult time in my corporate career. It disturbs me to read some of the negative reviews that have been posted about the school. In life we have many choices and we can either choose to be a society of complainers who will find everything wrong in the world or decide to grasp the challenges ahead of is and make the best of them. After all life is what you make of it. If one looks at the current state of our country we need resilient leaders, especially women leaders and those students who can embrace the challenges of their school career will cone out on too versus those who chooses to find fault with everything .

SAs successful women came from St Doms

I spent the absolute best years of my life in this school. Made the best friends for life. Sure, major discipline. Prepared me for the corporate world and Parliament. All my friends from St Doms are highly successful women.

Racist School

This school is racist and treats black people unfairly. In many situations of bullying this school does not handle it and just sweeps it under the rug as if its nothing. White teachers at this school say the n word to black children. When there is an issue with a black student and white student, teachers automatically side with white students because of there white privilege. Many dress codes apply to black students. One time a girl in my grade was told to take her bun out because it was INAPPROPRIATE while many white students had buns. Many hairstyles worn by black students are criticised and banned.Another situation is when a black student is late they get scolded but when a white student is late its ok. Many black students are given demerits for being late with reasonable excuses but white students and never scolded or never given demerits. In schools sports there is also a lot of racism like in sports like netball, white students the can't even catch the ball are given spots on the A team while blacks students are given spots on the b and c team when there amazing players. Many white students parents bribe the coaches into putting their child on the A team. Many students are rude, mean and Savage at most points. This school doesn't help you grow with grace. I would not recommend sending your daughter to this school

It’s.... a school?

I was a student there for 15 years matriculating in 2020 and the school isn’t bad per se but the management is almost hellish. As students we are talked down to (especially on a high school level) and while there as some teachers that are absolute gems, the few bad ones make academic life hard enough to spoil the lot.

The high school Math Pure department is in shambles and there is little to no extra academic help (that is useful) offered. Almost every student has to pay for private extra math lessons to scrape a passing grade and most end up dropping, a fact that can be said for other subjects as well.

The facilitates and pretty good with the Consumers studies cooking lab a definite highlight and the Art department is one of the best with not only technical help but also creative freedom. There is however, no GED offered at all, no option to take Dramatic arts or Musiv despite the teachers and facilities being there and the Cultural are always ignored in favour of sport.

If you are a culturally inclined person and want to excel at that, this is NOT your school, the sport department however is amazing with girls being selected for international teams, national teams and two girls in my year even being selected for the Olympic trials due in part to the training they received at St Dom’s. The netball has beat the same results with national South African team players often being selected from St Dom’s.

BAD SCHOOL

If I could give it a 0 I would
The blatant racism at this school is scary teachers telling black students they are stupid go have a look at the Instagram page stdomsgirlsgofar you'll see the many accounts of racism at the school many of which have not been addressed
The teachers dont have time for the student while I was a student there I went to many extra lessons in an attempt to pass. They push students into choosing maths lit because their worried about their pass marks maths lit gets you no where
If I had a daughter she would definitely not go to st doms they ruined me I've always felt self conscious, stupid and doubted my abilities since I matriculated
Religion was forced down our throats if we ever had a different opinion we'd be judged by the teachers for it. Bullying at the school is also never addressed they just put the kids in different classes and hope the problem goes away by itself I reported getting bullied many times and none were ever solved they simply just ignored it. I'm extremely glad I'm done with that school
They never encouraged me to follow my dreams instead told me I'm better suited for a house wife

St Dom’s a great school for girls

My daughter attends the pre-grade. She absolutely loves going to school.

The school continues to thrive and grow over the years.

The school strives to create a loving and caring environment with catholic ethos.

St Dominics no good

St Dominics was an awful experience for me.. I was in the school for 13 years and the girls are all bitchy
If a problem arises between the girls the school doesn't even try to solve it they sweep it under the rug and hope it disappears all by itself
They dont solve bullying problems
The teaching is awful I attended many outside extra lessons because the teachers weren't willing to help...
If you asked questions in class you get asked if your stupid
Also they claim they get a 100% matric pass rate they actually dont the asked many girls in my grade not to write final matric exams under the St Dominics name to protect its reputation
The socials it hosts are filled with drugs and alcohol
Its definitely not a safe environment for girls
I would not recommend anybody sending their children here
