15 years at St cyprians and I would absolutely send my kids there
I went to this school since the age of 3 all the way up to Matric and it shocks me to see it has only scored a 3.
I have been out if school for a few years and am so grateful for the independent thinking skills, people skills and work ethic St cyprians has taught me that shines into my professional life. I feel that they have offered a well rounded approach when teaching young girls in aspects like sports, culture, history, debating and basic knowledge that one needs in this world. As someone who did not lean towards any of the catagories named and was not academically inclined I have used my skilss from school to navigate difficult degrees and jobs and thrived in all areas. I would 100% send my daughters here. It is also important to note I work overseas in a field that allows me to travel and meet a lot of people and when I hear about other schools it really cements the fact that going to this school was a privilege when it comes to teachers, facilities, food and education, opportunities.
Excellent school with a strong sense of community. Strong academic programme and co-curricular programme that focuses on character education. Wide offer of subjects, sports, culture and community partnerships.
We were part of St Cyprians for 5 years and found that it has some great teachers but not great head/leadership. It also has incredible facilities.
The school seems to produce independently thinking humans which is lovely but it suffers with huge racism issues. The head of the school was appointed in 2020 with a mandate of transformation but has made huge blunders. And so the cost which non white children pay is great and the efforts to transform seem to be nothing more than window dressing. A tick-box exercise. My hope and prayer is that this changes for teachers and students of colour as it could be a wonderful environment otherwise.
Rampant bullying. It’s a terrible place. Unless your child is tall, pretty, excellent at sports and part of the Cape Town elite, don’t go near this place. your child will be teased and bullied and the teachers do nothing. It’s all about money and old money at that.
If you child is good at sport and not academic, this is the school for you. - the privilege is so extreme that parents and teachers do not even see the necessity of good academics. It's all about music and art and sport sport sport. If that's what you are looking for, this is the school for you.
I have never been happier to work at such a top class school! Supportive staff, kind parents, support staff are caring. As a whole is a well run school with happy children, happy families and happy teachers!
