Roshnee Secondary is a complete disgrace and honestly needs to be shut down. The environment is toxic, abusive, and filled with racism, sexism, and favoritism — not just from learners but directly from the teachers themselves.
Black learners are constantly disrespected, called offensive slurs like “kaffir” by staff, and made to feel like outsiders. Some teachers go as far as saying we’re “just adding numbers” in certain subjects. One even forces subject changes without parent consent or proper forms. It’s completely illegal and unacceptable.
Bullying is ignored, and in many cases, fueled by the teachers themselves. They gossip about learners in the staffroom — discussing marks, spreading lies, and even dragging those stories back into their classrooms to talk about with students. It’s petty and unprofessional beyond words.
If you’re not Indian or male, don’t expect fairness. Boys get all the sports opportunities, and the girls are sidelined. Uniform policies are forced on learners regardless of personal or religious beliefs, with no room for discussion. And when it comes to religious accommodation, only Muslim learners are given space and time — everyone else is basically ignored.
To make matters worse, if two learners — a boy and girl — are seen together, the girl gets blamed for everything. Double standards. Misogyny. Disgusting favoritism.
And good luck trying to leave. The school makes it extremely difficult to transfer out, even when learners are being emotionally and mentally affected by the environment.
This is not a safe space, not a learning space, and definitely not a school that values all students. It’s a prison built on control, fear, and discrimination. Avoid it at all costs.
Good school but the principal needs to acknowledge the teachers who give the school a bad rep. The physics teacher simply cannot teach. Physics is an extremely important subjects and the students who chose the subject are clearly dedicated, the teacher can have a big impact on their interest of the subject. I have heard that she failed to pass her first physics which decided whether she could teach or not, I mean seriously 🤦🏻♀️ all she does is give out worksheets and does not explain. This explains why parents need to pay extra for tuition. Please find a replacement urgently. Secondly, there is a teacher(bhoola) who is racist, extremely racist. She uses derogatory terms like the k word and uses physical violence against black students. I don’t know why the principal has not taken this further although he knows about it, my guess is because they are somewhat family. Other than that there are some amazing teachers and the deputy principal seems to be the most stable teacher aswell as deputy principal.
Learners (female) are required to wear a trouser and a skirt in the South African weather. Being a learner at this school I find it very hard to be in the heat all day with all these clothes on. I get that women that follow the religion of Islam are required to cover up but not all learners at the school are Muslim. Most of the girls at the school are Christian and don’t feel the need to wear both a skirt and a trouser
I really don't recommend that anybody go to that school. It's a mere shadow of what it used to be and both learner's and teachers are to blame for that. I'm not pointing any fingers but the racism that exist in that school is just toxic really and is not conducive to learning. My experience with that school was partly enjoyable but not all the time. There are some teachers that are absolutely wonderful and amazing.
I had the best and worst times at my school because of few individuals. I had the best times because of the teachers stepped up the games by giving me support emotional and believing in me.i represented my school the best way i could. The worst moments were when the different treatment we got from some teachers. No school spirit or sport.
Should allow learners to have sports teachers cannot control classes and the principlehas no control over the school things are happening and nothing is being done about it teachers are never there and work isn't being done absolutely unacceptable
