In my opinion, Rosebank Junior School has become a shadow of what it once was. The leadership under Mrs Naidoo has created an environment that I found controlling, intimidating, and unreceptive to differing views. From my experience, decisions often seem driven by maintaining control rather than focusing on what is best for the children.
For the fees parents are expected to pay, I do not believe the school delivers value that justifies the cost. The education provided has not, in my view, matched the premium price tag attached to it.
One of the most concerning aspects has been the apparent loss of experienced and talented teachers over the years. As a parent, it is difficult not to question why so many good educators have left. The morale within the school appears poor, and many staff members seem unwilling or unable to challenge decisions from management.
When concerns are raised, I have found that they are often dismissed rather than addressed. This has left me with the impression that protecting the school's reputation and income takes priority over listening to parents and improving the educational experience.
Based on my experience, I would not recommend Rosebank Junior School to prospective parents. Significant changes in leadership and culture would be needed before I could have confidence in recommending the school to others.
If you want a school that does absolutely nothing for your child and you end up teaching your child while paying a premium in school fees, then send your child here. If you want a school that is poorly managed by the principal then send your child here. If want a school that mismanages funds and the principal is protected by the WCED, send your child here. If you want a school that has a high staff attrition, send your child here.
