My experience growing up in RLCS

I matriculated from this school a few years back and was in the school for almost 10 years, and I can say it was overall a really great experience. I will say this school is more suited for primary school kids than late high school students, in my opinion. I had some of the best years of my life from Grade 4 to Grade 9 at this school. I have countless memories that I will cherish - but towards the last couple of years of my high school career some things changed. In terms of religion, the school strongly promotes Christian morals and values and your class teacher will make time for devotions almost everyday. When I was first at the school, every Monday morning we used to have assembly, and there would be a praise and worship section, and the principal would make general announcements. I really enjoyed those as we all sang the national anthem and school song together and it gave a feeling of togetherness, but a few years ago they stopped doing that, which I was sad about. I think the teachers, for the most part, really made you feel like they cared about your academic progress and the smaller classes made it feel like you could form real relationships with them. When I got to the last few years of my high school career, I started disliking the school a lot, mainly because I felt the school was doing nothing in terms of taking sport seriously (except for hockey). When I started at the school over 10 years ago, there was rugby, tennis, swimming, and we would have PE practice in the mornings at the local field. There was also a music teacher who gave lessons in piano, guitar, and drums as well as a choir teacher. By the time I was in Grade 12 none of those activities were offered anymore (and hadn't been for several years). I also felt like there was basically no one my age, as the school was mostly filled with younger grades. I felt like I missed out on a lot of things socially in my later years at the school, but I did receive academic support and opportunity unlike I would find at most other schools. The teachers were really the saving grace for this school. At the end of the day, it's not for everyone, but when I think back on my time at the school there are honestly far more good memories than bad ones. I think this school is perfect for quieter students who want to focus on reaching their academic potential, while maintaining a smaller group of friends.

Damaging…

This school has such potential, unfortunately not only does it not live up to the name, it does more damage than good, purely for the fact that the management ‘in charge’ are only for themselves… if it doesn’t benefit them and how THEY want to run things then it won’t happen… plans/ decisions are made and followed with ‘the Lord gave me a vision/message’ and more often than not ‘ the lord’(principal) changed their mind a short while on…

Management have ‘planning/prayer holidays’ where staff members and their private lives are discussed … some members of management boast about how if they don’t like a staff member they have ways to get rid of them…

Children have religion forced on them, and are often told the way they act would not be approved of by the Lord.. assemblies that are had with children are horrific and topics that should not be discussed, when management were informed they just say nothing can be done about it…

Please, if you, as a parent or a potential student are considering this school- DONT! Promises are made to potential parents and students and none of them are fulfilled… there are only a handful of of teachers who genuinely care about their learners..

Not all as it seems

No Student or staff member leaves the school without a scar. Under the very important label of "Christian" school... attitudes in leadership constantly change to suit them. Very clear favoritism is shown to staff and pupils. If you question or disagree with anything, you are isolated and worked out. Staff often go on holiday together where many a pupil or staff member or parent is discussed. Rules don't apply to all in the same manner. Goal posts are often moved... constant shifting sand.
Your private life as a student or parent or teacher is often brought under the microscope ....
Mountains out of Mole hills amongst senior staff is also a common practice. New staff are forewarned about other staff or students .... just a general unhealthy setup, all while huge initial smiles from all to impress.
Great at forming inaccurate first impressions

Gives Christianity a bad name

This school unfortunately doesn’t live up to its name… it gives Christianity such a bad name!
There are a handful of staff members that unfortunately ruin the whole school environment, unless you can financially help the school or are high up in places then only you are heard… the rest of the students and teachers are left to feel that no matter what they do or say is ever worth it… the principal and her PA and the HODS are the only ones that matter the rest are treated worse that the dirt beneath your shoes!

If there was someone else in charge this school will grow in leaps and bounds!

Just don't

I would highly not recommend this school, it honestly has no right to be called a "private school", all they do is charge a ridiculous amount of money per year for sub standard teaching. Although the school would like for it to have a positive image, it is the total opposite. Most of the students are in the school because of it's english teaching and not because of religous reasons, which is another problem. Religion is shoved down the students throats and if they don't act in a certain way that the school wants to, students are told that they quote "will go to hell". In what right world does a "christian" school tell it's kids that they will end up in hell.

I was in the school for a very long time, and time hasn't done the school very well. They try and mask up the old decrepid buildings by painting them, but noticing a cold draft comming through a crack big enough to fit a pencil comming through in the middle of winter is not what I call modern.

The headmaster is another problem, she is the most insane and hypocritical person I have ever met, always being two faced to parents and students. She would only get involved when it suited her and small, easy to fix problems were blown up to an astronomical scale. Her only way of fixing problems in the school was by shouting at students and breaking them down to a point of wanting to leave the school. Not often than not you could hear her screaming from across the school.

To the teachers at Logos who were always there, you know who you are (if you're reading this), you guys really helped see the light at the end of the tunnel and actually made my time there a bit more bearable. You always had the best advice for us and stood up for us when our voices weren't heard, and some of you let us get away with a lot, if you know you know.

To the teachers that made hard subjects even harder, please go get a degree or a career change.

The best course of action for the school is to get a new headmaster, properly paid and qualified teachers and get rid of the cult like religion, because it clearly isn't working.

Horrible Management and staff

The School is really horrible. You would expect much more from a private school. Most of the teachers are not properly educated and nothing is done in the interest of the students. The school is falling apart physically and really needs to have a massive upgrade as it is really not safe for children.

Horrible school

School teachers are awfull (EMS) They don't care about you at all. The teachers just sit there and do nothing to get paid.
The schoolfunds are way to high for the quility of teaching.
I am a student and this is my honest opinion. The learners also have no dicipline and the headmaster does not do anything but sit around in her office

Would not recommend.

a terrible school. the teachers are horrible and overly religious. if you wear a skirt above your knee you get told that you look like a prostitute. would not recommend at all. there's a few nice teachers but overall it's not an enjoyable school.
