Business is Booming- Discriminative admissions policy
I am extremely disappointed by the admissions team, firstly my son is in grade 00 he went for assessments and we were told we would receive feedback by Tuesday 2nd December but I didn't so I decided to call and I was told he was rejected. I have a daughter in Nova Pioneer who started in grade R she could not even speak English and even say a mere Teacher may I please go to the toilet yet she was accepted for grade R because Nova Pionneer Midrand was still hunting for kids. Now that business is blooming they rejected my son who goes to one of the good Pre-schools in Midrand who is very fluent and expressive. His fate was already decided upon without being given a chance yet my daughter who could not even say a 4 word sentence was accepted because the school was still hungry for students. Imagine if she had been rejected how would you have known that she is even capable of receiving awards from the school because she is doing very well? I even had a call with the principal to explain to him but that yielded nothing as a child going to grade R was rejected and not even given a chance. He was discriminated against as perhaps the school takes ready made kids so that it can look like the school only has smart kids.
Not forgetting that they asked for the recent report, what was that for because clearly your assessments are not based on what the child is currently learning at their schools. I even had a long chat with the principal of his current school and she mentioned that my son is the best in his class but because business is now booming at Nova he is being discriminated against. As a single mother in this economy am I expected to be driving around to two different schools whereas in one school I would even be given a sibling discount. How diabolical of the school to reject a child going to grader R!
This is the worst School to ever take your school to. Don't even try it. I will be removing g my child from this school. There is no value for your money. The teachers are inexperienced.... We are expected to teach our kids. We also have jobs and do not have time for that. Their news bulletin are very long and not straight to the point. My child complains a lot about the Teachers in Grade 00. Sub standard learning. I'm so frustrated by everything including picking up of the kids... They hire security guards that looks high almost every day eclxcept for 1 gentle mam who wears a black and yellow top.
If you want best education for your child... Please don't try this school especially for the foundation phase. Their administration is the worst they won't take anything you say serious... Instead they will be defensive and not try to better anything.
If you are looking for 6 good and quality education for your child then NOVA PIONEER Midrand is a NO GO AREA, avoid this school by all means. it is not the one to give you that in fact it will frustrate you for a good year.
The school hires unqualified teachers with no experience for the foundation phase kids, they will ask you to teach your child when you address issues, management sides with the incompetent teachers their main focus is on money and they are profit-driven.
They also give kids horrible and traumatic punishments.
1. Ensure your child NEVER forgets their water bottle because at the Midrand, Matuka campus they tell kids to go get water in the bathroom as punishment😭. The same kids will be asked to go get water for the teachers in the kitchen but must get water for themselves in the bathroom! So disturbing 😳. Even during the cholera outbreak this was true. So ensure your child leaves with their water bottle otherwise they will be directed to the loo for water in this school. This rule is so wrong on so many ways. It’s close to impossible for kids to sometimes forget to bring their water bottle and the common areas should have water dispensers for this very reason.
This school is more reactive than proactive. If you don’t believe this ask the grade 1s and 2s on this campus who have once or twice forgotten their water bottles.
2. They had only one aftercare teacher for the whole of the first half of 2023 until parents started complaining because the poor teacher was overwhelmed by the large number of aftercare kids (mind you these are kids from grade R to grade 3!). This ONE teacher was expected to supervise homework and look after all these kids by herself. A big mess! Since July there’s been two additional teachers. Again reactive rather than proactive.
3. Other three term schools have a very short midterm break. This school takes an entire week. Then they have what they call “breathing week” where the school dismissal is at 12pm for the whole week-a working parent’s nightmare! This is in the second last week of every term. It appears the school teachers need a lot of time off at this school and this is at the detriment of the parents.
4. Don’t get me started on the holiday care program 🤯🤯🤯
The whole sending kids to the bathroom to get their water thing is the most disgusting 🤢 and keeping us awake at night. This is done to Grade R to grade 3 kids mind you! It’s wrong on so many levels.
Absolutely appalling administration at Nova Pioneer Midrand.
When online classes started, it took about 4 days of following up and escalation (to the Dean), for my child to be enrolled in the online class.
A week or so later, they decide to migrate all kids doing online classes into a different class with different teachers. Then my child is not made a part of that class either. After two days of following up, on the third day, they enroll my child in the new class.
When he tries to join the new class online, then no class seems to be taking place online as per the timetable.
Excellent school with amazing values. Nova is by far one of the best schools when it comes to teaching our young one's the art of leadership and fruitful learning.
