Merensky

This school is incredibly racist and homophobic, the teachers even make horrible remarks about your sexuality for example “you’re an abomination”. I have bared witness to the racism against black students and the constant favouritism of the Afrikaans students, in Merensky if you’re not straight white and Afrikaans, you’re nothing, I myself attended there since my 8th grade I am thankfully done with the place. Regardless of the unfair treatment the school is a very good educational facility with constant improvements, I don’t want to give it a bad review because I know not everyone is at fault but the homophobia and racism has to stop its 2021 and we are not animals

I would not recommend enrolling your child to this school, as an alumnus. The school is racist. They tolerate bullying of black learners by white learners, nothing is done if a black learner reports that they were bullued by a white learner. The white learners are afforded the ability to break the code of conduct and suffer little to no consequences, they might get a simple warnimg at most. Black learners however get their items confiscated for even the smallest transgressions.Bullying is generally rampant in the school, with teachers being perpetrators as well. A certain white male teacher was appoinnted as the disciplinarian tpo handle matters of violence on the school grounds, but he himself was the worst bully. He abused his power as a teacher, he screamed at the black learners every chance he got, he has a reputation as the most feared teacher in the school due to how violent he is. Children are not safe around him and the other staff Members and the principal know this and they have allowed him to keep his job. The school does not do anything for victims of sexual harassment and rape. They protect rapists and other sexual offenders. The school is also transphobic, they prohibit the tradition of switchng uniforms with the opposite sex for gender swap day. This means that Transgender learners will not be welcomed or be safe at the school. Learners from marginalized groups will have a lot of trauma to deal with for years to come.

I’m an Alumni, a very proud one. This is a highly efficient school that is academically competent, sports efficient, culturally diverse and maintains high moral levels. Produces most A students within the area and students who are academically competent for varsity. It is also agriculturally rich with vast land of plantation providing great environmental benefits.
