Houghton Primary School

Houghton primary school in all honesty looking back it was a great experience I really enjoyed my time there. The teachers form bonds with students and parents. The school has a culture like based community and very diverse. I would recommend but into the cons.
They aren't really big on SPORTS. When I was there they were only a few sports and people barely played them because they weren't interested. No rugby, No drama, No basketball, No tennis, No hockey like it was extremely dry. When I was there the equipment specifically computers literally had cobwebs and dust that's how old there were, same applys to the school it's extremely outdated like sports, technology wise even educational wise it's extremely old fashioned, again the netball, tennis courts needs a renovation ,nonetheless I still would recommend but Houghton desperately needs to pick it's shoes if still wants to compete with other schools. The only sport highlight was chess, chess we went Provincial pretty much all time and some much like myself later down the line went national with it in St Davids Marist inanda but unfortunately can't talk about other sports because we literally had no options. ITS TIME TO PICK UP YOUR SHOES BEFORE ITS TOO LATE HOUGHTON.

My son's application to this school has been ongoing for five years, with every attempt to comply with their requirements and processes, only to be told there is no space, meanwhile, it appears other students are being accepted, with an apparent bias towards certain nationalities, such as South African. They Only take Ethiopian 😭😭😭students, which is particularly disappointing given our close proximity to the school. So many Ethiopian kids but they don't let us South Africa to apply for our kids.

This school has provided a safe and loving environment for my children.

My experience in this school is the opposite of good. Teachers give loads of homework and often punish kids for nothing. The principal is mean and always shouts for nothing. When you are a smart they expect you be the best in everything and if you dont they call your parents. I definitely dont reccomend this school to anyone.😭

Had the best years of my life there, teachers and staff were extremely friendly and that made my childhood memories at that school unforgettable ♥️
