Oos Moot is the best

Oos-Moot is a great school. It has excellent teachers and beautiful facilities. The current SGB seems competent and forward-thinking and they are constantly upgrading the school. The school performs well in terms of academics, sport, and culture.

Oos-Moot is unfair and feels like a prison

Oos-Moot is a decend school. Some teachers work hard to give their learners the best education while others just sit back and relax and expect the learners to do what is expected of them without knowing anything.

Some of the teachers are really unfair for example they would favor the students that are popular or and rugby team.

The principle and vice principal is very bad at their job. The vice principle is also someone that looks at the school girls private parts when he talks to them and is very hypocritical. The principle is a narcissistic and rude.

Their tuck shop is very over priced and unfair because only some people can pay things on tab.

I wouldn't recommend going to this school it feels like a prison because they makes us write the time and place when going somewhere.

Great school

Hoërskool Oos-Moot is an excellent school. It offers a wide range of sport and cultural activities and maintains very good academic standards.

The terrain and facilities are great and the school has a brand new Hockey Astro, its own gymn, and a variety of good sport facilities. The school's orchestra, its Revue, and its Mnr and Mej Oos-Moot competition are of the highest professional standards. The musical (every second year) is also always something to look forward to.

School Pressure

The school doesn't care about students, only about money and the reputation of the school by putting more stress on the students to write more and more tests each year that is truly and utterly unnecessary. Would have to go to school was enough, but the students have to study for tests upon tests not giving them a breather for example the matrics have to write 2 to don't know how many tests of the same subject before record exams putting more stress and not enough time to study subjects following the record exams. And some subjects can't keep schedule so then move the test for that subject a day earlier making it more difficult for the students.

Worst place to be

No personally this is the worst school ever. I mean the amount of bullying, racism in that place is really sky high they scam parents for money they increase their fees to an unthinkable level some teachers don't do their job properly... worst place to send a child for education and they like competing with other schools it's really unnecessary.

Bad place to be

I'm sorry but Oos-Moot is not a good school, and yes I understand that all schools have their ups and downs but personally I believe this school only has low points, the only way you will ever get noticed is if you are one of the best athletic students, this school is power hungry...and onlay expects 100% frome you now less. And don't let me get started on the popular kids, because if I am honest only the most popular kids get recognized and "taken care of" in this school. The new principal is one of the most narcissistic people I've ever seen, most of the teachers are nice and are really good at teaching, but like I said, most.At the end personally I would not recommend sending kids to Hoërskool Oos-Moot.

No thanks

I'm sorry (not really) the new principle is rude, close-minded and overall just power hungry. If you're not a top sports player (athletics, rugby or netball) you're not "seen" or noticed and not liked by any of the teachers or school staff, and you're treated with a lot of disrespect. If you don't have a lot of money this school is certainly not the way to go. They milk every last cent out of you and increase their prices by a lot. Most of the teachers are just rude and hateful most of the time. This school isn't very open minded and nice to people/children who differ from the "popular group" and students they favour.
They also don't handle bulling and sexual assault cases by students or staff. I've had to report sexual assault 5 times in one year and nothing was done to better or change any of the situations.

Absolutely would not recommend.

Bad experience

I don't think Oos-Moot is the best school to go to. It was a nice experience but the teachers don't care about bullies and mental health. They try too hard to be the best school with the best academic marks. I know a few students who passed their grade 11 year, but has been held back because Oos-Moot wants a 100% pass rate for the matric students. I personally struggled with being bullied and I went to a couple of teachers/workers for it, but they just brush it off.

Teachers are being too hard on the students and some of the teachers are bullies themselves.

The girls have too much drama and the boys fight too much. Oos-Moot needs to change a lot of things in order to become a good school.

If there are teachers reading this, I hope you do something to change the way you are to the students.

Also another complaint is that there are no signs of social distancing. Some students/teachers/workers aren't even wearing a mask. The sanitizer didn't have alcohol in it to clean hands and surfaces.

good school , but not the best

Oos Moot is not a bad school , the teachers are very nice and helpful but some of the younger teachers can be very strict and they yell at you for no reason when they are passing the halls and you were accidentally in the way .. I just think that they could also respect us a little more because we show no disrespect towards our teachers .. It does not happen everyday and I understand that maybe they're having a bad day but they are harsh some days

Our principal is very strict and focused on rules which is good ! He is a wise man and very nice but he also scares me sometimes haha :)

Our academics are very good , I can't complain

We have a variety of sports from cricket , rugby , mountain biking , swimming , netbal , softbal and athletics to dancing (revue) , musical shows , choir , cheerleading and many more

We're not really a school with bullying , but if someone gets bullied then the bullies are dealt with by one if our teachers. I am a girl and I can say that yes there can be a lot of drama around the girls but if you don't make it a big deal , it doesn't have to be.. The boys are okay , once in a while they will start a meaningless fight over nothing and leave it but our male teachers give them punishment if needed

Best school ever

The school is absolutely excellent. Our new principal Mr Kotze is extremely principled and ethical and is really a born teacher. The culture is caring and participation is valued higher than winning. Love my school.

It's okay.

I liked the school when I was in Grade 8 and 9 because of all the new faces and the kind teachers. I was always a very hard-working student. I loved school until I got to Grade 10.

I started realizing that the same students always got picked for the leadership positions, sport teams and cultural activities. Those students also happened to be the children of the people who gave the school money for extra expenses. For example, if your parents can't afford to buy the rugby team's jerseys then you won't be noticed at school and it will be a bit difficult getting on the A-team, even if you're the best.

The teachers are okay. There's a handful of teachers that are extremely good at their jobs and make sure that no one is left out or struggling. Unfortunately, there are some teachers that will make it difficult for students that don't immediatly understand the work that was discussed.

There's quite a lot of bullying at the school. If you don't make a big scene about it then it won't get handled by any of the higher positions of the school.

Lately, the school is trying to make the student fit into a box and be perfect. If you can't or don't want to fit in that box you get shoved aside and most likely bullied in some kind of way.

Overall experience of Oos-Moot

I think its an amazing school. I have done my matric there in 2019.

They do care for eyerone! There is a pshycologist working full time in school hours to support anyone willing to talk about their difficulties.

There is activities for each student preference, whether its Rugby or being part of the Orchestra.

They always have a way of making everyone feel like a family and assist in your needs.

I wasnt one of the top students or the best in the sports that I did, and I felt appreciated through all of the years I went to school there.

EVERYONE is treated equally!

The teachers are a great support system towards the students and always willing to assist in their needs as well.

I would definitely recommend installing aircons in class rooms as it gets very humid and hot on some days, which is not a good environment for students to stay focused.

Oos Moot is a bad school.

If you're not an athlete, sports player or top performing academic student, the school doesn't care.

When you throw money their way they love you, besides that, they don't care.

They don't talk about any important topics such as childrens mental health or preparing them for life after school.

Bullying is plentiful and they don't care, if you're bullied by a jock they care even less; because why would they do anything negative towards their prized students?

Do not recommend, it would be a waste of money and unfair towards a child.
