Student Harassment

A teacher from your school has conducted in sexual activity with a minor witnessed by a minor The sexual act happened in a secluded place where sports activities were held. This so called student has been identified as the head of the school and of hierarchy. This so called teacher is in an authoritative person in position. The unfortunate minor was forced to accept a bribe in respect for their silence prior to witnessing such a gruesome act! The said minor happens to have video and photo evidence of such crimes and we are willing to bring these evidences immediately to court if the circumstances seem to fit!!!
We are a family of parents and we no longer will tolerate any injustice done to our kids!!!
We warn you now to respectfully respond to our request for information or we will take further action!!!!!!!
Note that at times we have requested to see the principal that our requests have been on deaf ears and no one has responded to our needs as parents …..
Heed my warning…..We are fully committed to to address the situation and hey the teachers in question FIRED for their misconduct or we will be going to social media for further seeking of justice.

Terrible School!!!!!

As far as I know, this is the worst school for girls! A teacher in an authoritative position had sex with a student! Once she was noticed by a fellow student she bribed the by-passer student to remain silent! Parents have made numerous attempts to talk to the principal but to no avail! Furthermore access to toilet facilities have been granted to girls only for the benefit of male teachers xx staring them down!
What the fuck is going on in this school!???? We are not to be silenced! We will not let our children suffer the injustice of the failed education system! Answer is now or face the consequences!!!! We are a community of parents and we will not be ignored!!!!!!!!!!!!

a school that covers up

the education is amazing, but as a student i have experienced a lot of racism, sexism and homophobia in this school. the teachers who are supposed to handle these things dont handle them with much seriousness and even mock this behavior. they call it girl problems and send us to female teachers if we wish to report it.
the rugby team burned and urinated on a pride flag which shows that they have absolutely no respect for anyone in this school and this has been covered up for so long.
some of the teachers are very egocentric and treat you like garbage, for example, a few days ago i went to an academic head to collect a letter to change subjects and she didn't even ask why i was there, even after she announced that we could get the letters from her on the school communication app (teams), she just snapped her head up and said "what."
she did have a class but she wasnt teaching at that moment and that really made me feel disrespected as a student
this school also has drug abuse problems and should actually try to do something about it instead of just telling learners to not smoke.
there are also multiple rape and assault jokes made that arent adressed propperly and arent handled with care.
some of the male teachers look up the girls dresses under desks and stare at their breasts and bum. we have reported this multiple times but nothing has been done about it. this is an ongoing problem that i fear will never be adressed.
some teachers will make comments about the black people in class and they always assume they can speak more languages than one and live in villages.
however, instead of failing a learner, this school gives learners time to leave the school and apply to another school so they could get enrolled there without any trouble. i must say i think this is messing with the alleged ammount of people that pass but none the less, it gives students a second chance

My Personal Experience

By my personal experience I don’t think that it is bad. When it comes to the teachers, most of them behave themselves very well. There is the occasional teacher that wil still yell on you like you are in Primary School, makes you cry and that doesn’t really teach you anything at all.

By my experience as a student (being a girl) school life has been more tough on us than on the boys. Equal rights are definitely not the school’s top priority. The school’s top priority is the rugby boys. The rugby and the boys who play rugby are the school’s most important asset. There is a lot of favoritism present when it comes to the boys, especially the rugby boys. Right beneath the rugby boys of the pyramid is the popular girls. Most of them play netball. They are also favorited the most and get a lot of advantages when it comes to school, sport and other benefits along with the boys who are good at rugby. Most of the children here (the more younger, the worse it is) is very unmannered even if the school doesn’t think so.

They also don’t handle bullying well. You are often told to get over it or handle it yourself. You often don’t feel heard.

The school has a great tuckshop. It has an acceptable range of meals but can be pricy for what you are actually paying for.

The environment is nice. It just need more places to sit (benches).

We have a wide range of school activities and sports but you only matter if you play rugby.

The school culture can be fun at times.

The true natures of Garsfontein

When it comes to academics and teachers that are doing a job well done, then Garsfontein is definitely at the top.

You can't really judge a school based on its children, but if you could, the students there are unmannered and build each other up on a pyramid of those who matter, and those who don't. Landing on the bottom might ruin the 5 years you spend there, and reaching the top will most certainly make high school a blissful experience.

The choices of subjects range far and wide and provides the ultimate backbone to complete matric with great results from teachers who take time to help you grow from Gr.8 to Gr.12. There's no slacking when it comes to education.

Garsfontein is known for its successful victories, but only cares about you when you participate in sport (mainly rugby), and appreciates any cultural activities (even though it does not get as much praise as sport). If there is one group of people in this school who receive special treatment, it is the rugby boys.

Although there are negatives, a big positive is the community projects being one of the many things Garsfontein prides themselves on when it comes to reaching out to others. Some even rely on Garsfontein's generous giving, and students are proud to engage in such ventures.

Overall - You can't go wrong with High School Garsfontein. It is a #1 school with a passion for excellence in education.

From my perspective

so at this school you've got amazing classes and sport, but if you actuaĺly want to have a good time and not be judged and be w stuck up people i would rather recommend waterkloof/ menlo.
