The school claims to have a good history but what they dont tell you is how the staff is privileged to do anything they want, as a previous learner of the school i can tell you the teachers will tell you they dont sign credits in the hostel and tell you they do not do such and the schooling is behind and some teachers dont even teach, i wouldnt recommend going to this school at all
The teachers don’t treat our kids fairly thy have favourites and thy have kids who thy hate and I’m tired
CHANGE THE TEACHERS ATTITUDE MAYBE THE CHILDREN WILL ALSO CHANGE
I was once a Bekker learner it is a good school but when it comes to hostel total different story thy treat up bad and thy don’t care what other kids feel and how thy act thy actually don’t give a damn abt other kids I would not recommend parents to send they kids if thy know that thy kids anxiety and cannot stand up for themselves because that child will always come home crying my child came crying not because of the children because of the teachers and my child fails not because she can’t focus it’s because the don’t grade fairly and thy treat other different thy choose who to love and who to hate and when the teacher hates u and thy ask us why do we have a attitude why are we so naughty in class why are we so disrespectful one day if my child comes home crying because of the teachers or fail purposely I’m going to call the school board and I’m going to advise them to shut down that school if thy don’t change thy style of teaching
This school is a good school with a really strong disciplinary system although it has a point that hasn't been pointed out. If your child is interested in the school & he/she wants to study agriculture as a subject from grade 10-12 & he/she is English speaking...don't! I repeat, don't! From grade 10-12 the classes are combined regardless of your HL basically both English and Afrikaans speaking learners in one class & that's were the problem starts because the agricultural teachers are racist, I've never encountered an agri teacher that doesn't chose Afrikaans speaking learners over the English speaking, it's so bad that the teacher speaks 98% of the the time Afrikaans and he/she has to equally speak both languages to accommodate both as he/she was assigned to the job. It really saddens me to see English speaking learners suffer in those classes, it continues every year class to class. luckily from grade 8-9 agri is compulsory so the classes are divided according to your HL. You are also treated according to your financial status.
It is a good school i liked all my teachers. But we get mistreated at the hostel, the boys have more favour than the girls. It is a place where your child would not want to be. We don’t rest during exam seasons and we have 3 long study sessions with a 15 minute break only between the 2 and 3 study session in the evening. The network is bad and we are not allowed to use devices during the study sessions. The winters here are so cold that even when you layer up you can still feel it. We are not allowed to wear scarfs, beanies and gloves. The food at the hostel is not bad but it causes food poisoning. You can enrol your child at the school but not the hostel
The school isn’t bad but it isn’t good aswell. The hostel is absolutely terrible, they mistreat and give us about 3-4 hours of study with only a 15 minute break. We barely have any time to ourselves and we are aren’t allowed to do our tutoring sessions online during the night study sessions. We aren’t allowed to use our cellular devices during study for research or to watch educational content related to the work. The head of the hostel doesn’t want to listen to our complaints about the study times or anything at all. This hostel will make you miss home, it will cause you anxiety and stress. I have not enjoyed my stay at boarding but the school is fine.
I am a former student from bekker. It is an amazing school, the school only. The problem occurs in hostel, they mistreat us a lot and the hostel staff don’t care about our well being. I would suggest not taking a child who overthinks or has anxiety to hostel, but allow them to go to the school.
Bekker helped molding my son into the man he is today. All the children and teachers are respectfull, helpfull and always friendly. One of the best schools you can send your child to. Proud of Bekker pupils and teachers.
I was in the school and honestly it isn't bad, it wasn't my first option of course and they do pressure you to take part in an activity which sucks for those of us who aren't really good at doing anything....but overall the school isn't bad. If you're rich of course and can pay for all their 'fun' activities....
