Hendrik Louw Laerskool

My son is in grade 1 and I am so impressed with this school. During lockdown they were amazing. To the teachers and principal, you are the best. Every child is important and not only children who are good in sports or academics. The best is wanted for all kids. Bravo

Hendrik Louw is an amazing school. I completed my primary school education here as well as my sister and now my daughter. The school has always been fantastic but now the quality of most of the teachers here is truely impressive. A dual medium school means the kids are continually exposed to Afrikaans and this makes it easier for them to learn. While on par with the national curriculum, the way lessons are taught os truely fantastic, with teachers who care and pay attention to their students, offering help and support when needed and actively keeping parents involved and up to date. The school's focus on sport and culture is also such a bonus, as it helps children to grow, develop fantastic skills and be well rounded individuals! The school building itself is brilliantly maintained, clean and wonderfully decorated with kids artwork and beautiful murals. I absolutely love the historical photographs and memorabilia in the reception area. Most of the staff, while rather strict, (which is important in a primary school!) Are incredibly warm, welcoming and helpful. The principal seems to be a wonderful man and my daughter has loved most of her teachers. The children's safety is the school's main concern and you can see this as soon as you step foot on the school property! Hendrik Louw absolutely sets a very high standard, and I believe one would definately struggle to find a better government school in the area!!!

I am a new parent at this school as my child is in Grade R, but from what we have experienced so far of the school myself and my husband are really happy with the school. Our principal seems to be a very caring man who truly believes in nurturing children and making an environment where they can thrive. The school keeps in constant contact with parents regarding homework, events and sport/extra-murals. Hendrik Louw Primary is 140 years old this year. My husband's grandmother attended the school, as well as some of his cousins.
