This was a great school. The founding Headmaster created a really good school that George could be proud of.
Unfortunately the problems started when it was bought out by the men in suits from JHB with no interest in education, only profit. As they refer to themselves "a JSE listed education conglomerate"
The school is losing pupils at a staggering rate, half the under 13 rugby team left on the same day just last week, this rate of loss is somewhat hidden due to the fact George is gaining 50+ families a month so these new kids fill the gaps. The local, much cheaper government schools are so much better than Glenwood.
Glenwood is one of the largest risks to George's growth, its poor performance puts strain on surrounding schools.
On top of the high, zero value for money school fees you will end up sending your kids to private lessons, strangely these lessons are full of Glenwood pupils? Our maths tutor says she "does not know what Glenwood is doing wrong in maths but it sure keeps her busy!" The parents have to drive the sports forward, moms in Netball dads in Rugby - there is zero intertest from the school and current owners in uplifting the school spirit, education and sport. I see Glenwood has recently turned off Google reviews - I can only assume negative reviews are starting to mount.
am proud to go to school here and I think I have grown in both maturity and faith because of my experience here. This is a fantastic school that I am happy to be enrolled in and I am sad to leave this year.”
The school has covered up scandal after scandal. The rampant homophobia experienced is only the tip of the iceberg. Stuck up and not even worth the price. Though there are good teachers there the leadership is poor.
This school is an overpriced hell hole, my daughter came home every day in tears caused by constant bully and the school’s inability to control it, the school charges every possible expense the possible can, my daughter has, been there fir years I’m only glad she can finally leave
They have all the sports and cultural activities you can think of, but RACISM is on another level... All the learners are stuck up and it's just the way they are, I was attacked racistly and nothing much was done!!! Save yourself don't apply at Glenwood.
