Every Child a Great Paycheck. Terrible school

Terrible school. Just a business disguised as a school. No help given to struggling students or extra lessons offered. Money oriented. You're seen as a paycheck to the school and the teachers are just their for a paycheck and but bare minimum into what they do. Sports facilities are bang average especially for the fees paid compared to other private schools, the sports facilities are terrible. Their 100% pass rates and bachelors pass rates for matric's are complete lies. When students seem like they are about to fail matric after prelims they make them chose specific subjects which they are going to pass with certainty and drop the subjects they clearly are going to fail. Joke of a school, Not worth the fees.

Give it a try

The teachers are very understanding and are very approachable. Every week there is at least 1 event that happens which makes going to school quite worth it. One teacher isn’t really nice though.

All about profit

My peers are some of the best people I will ever know.
However some of the teachers put in minimal to no effort into helping along struggling students. This school focuses on the academically gifted students and leaves the average and below average students out to dry.

The school cares more about profit than it does it’s students. And quite frankly it’s not worth the fortune it costs.

A new era for CCS.

As an alumni of Crawford Sandton, who started at the school from grade one and has since completed Matric with them I can safely say that Crawford shaped me as an individual and helped make me the person I am today. Like all schools it has its flaws but the aspects they get right they really to excel in! Crawford was a highly respected school and towards the end of the 2010s it seemingly lost its way. The change over from GDE to IEB was a tough one and one that was not handled as well as it should have been. The teachers were excellent and genuinely cared for their students as well as their students achievements and progress. Management over time deteriorated as teachers who cares little for students were brought into head positions while passionate and dedicated teachers fell away and decided to move to other schools. Like a lot of private schools this one is built with a board and focuses their attention on their shareholders. You would find students in situations where they were meant to be expelled but simply because of who their parents were and how much they could financially contribute, were given another chance. I feel like towards the end of my schooling career, that the high school focuses on more on financial benefits than they do the actual students. The heads were unable to help especially during the transition to IEB and the teachers whom wanted to help had no training in teaching it. We spent exuberant amounts of money on extra lessons and finally when it was time for results to be showcased and we were top again the principal was all to quick to accept praise. As of 2020 a new principal was appointed, a principal who genuinely cares for the students and wants to progress with them. I believe that she will return the school to its former glory and create an environment of family and safety, one I had grown accustomed to there.

A Fun, Cool, But Fundamentally Flawed School

Crawford College Sandton used to be an amazing school. A place where you were guaranteed the highest quality of education, the most socially accepting and fun community and the best teachers around. Over the past 2 or 3 years this has changed and is still getting worse. While the students and peers are still some of the best people out there, the quality of the school, management, and teaching have all dwindled. So many of the school's best teachers have left, the attitude in the classroom and school in general is one where the students and teachers both generally don't care, and the consistent reshuffling of management and principals further justifies the school's lack of direction. On top of all of these points, the tuition price continues to grow. CCS was a school that prided itself on its cultural and academic achievements, yet lately even the cultural side has been lacking with many complaints from the students. Crawford students still graduate with outstanding results, often placing highest in the country, which is why I did not rate the school lower than "Average". You still leave the school with amazing results and grades and with some great memories. The system is slowly breaking apart though, which may be a reason for concern in the very near future.

Couldn’t have gone to a better high school!

I used to go to another Crawford school which was just as great! We then moved to Crawford Sandton and honestly I’m so glad we moved. CCS (Crawford College Sandton) help every individual find their place in this school. They make sure you’re comfortable in every single class. In terms of academics, the teachers are incredible. They were awarded so so many AdvTech awards in almost all subjects (including gold for physical science and silver for mathematics). They have so many different sport options that there’s something for everyone. We’ve got students from everywhere and no one has ever reported bullying. However, we do still have to sign the code of conduct in relation to bullying. There are peer counselors alongside our school counselor so you’ve never got to deal with anything alone. Seriously parents if you’re looking for a school that is accepting and encouraging, that will push your child to achieve the best they possibly can and help them with career choices in higher grades - I cannot think of a better school!
