cannot recommend Cooper College High School. Since 2024, under new executive head, the school has become a shadow of its former self. The staff are unprofessional and seem to have no regard for the students' well-being. My child has suffered due to the environment here. It’s clear why enrolment is dropping—the heart of the school is gone
My time at Cooper was decent. The staff was good and times were actually fun, until 2024 everything about Cooper changed. The head executive turned it into something bad. She claimed that she's trying to make Cooper great, but that was an obvious lie. I used to wake up everyday feeling mentally tired. Students usually say that they hate school but Cooper was different. I used to wake up everyday feeling good but I couldn't stand it anymore. I played sports but it wasn't great, the coaches would have bias towards certain students and let them play the most.We could have played multiple matches but I would only play one match for 5 minutes. I honestly regret coming to Cooper I wish I stayed at my old school.
The school was amazing throughout my time at Cooper. The staff were incredible. But the school had taken a horrible turn. As of 2024, the current executive head took over. Although people said it would good. It only caused my mental health to fall. She seemed reluctant to acknowledge that our time at school may be different from hers. She constantly talks about how she understands how we feel, but she really never does. She seems to only like white children, as she knew all of their names, but never any of the children of colour. The school could improve it there is a new executive head.
As a parent, I am deeply saddened by the decline of Cooper College High School. Since the executive head changed , the environment has shifted from supportive to dismissive. My child’s mental well-being has been significantly impacted by an atmosphere where the staff appears indifferent and unprofessional. With dwindling student numbers and a lack of genuine care, it is no longer the institution we once trusted.
I used to go here from Grade 1-7, and it was a decent school. The education was good however the teachers thought they knew everything and didn't attend to the students needs interns of mental well being. There was also alot of bias amongst them. For example a student that was liked by the teacher could do the exact same thing as another that they didn't like and wouldn't get punished at all. Also they didn't invest into Sports and Cultural extramurals at all. They would have a teacher as a coach and failed to invest in proper coaches, this lead to alot of favouritism and students who where really good at that specific sport sometimes weren't picked because the coach like someone else that wasn't even that good. They only prioritized swimming and netball but neglected all the other sports. In terms of school discipline they are a no nonsense school and I could say thats one out of few things they got right.
My Twin boys go to Cooper College, they have learn so many amazing thing like naming the bones in the body and the solar system and they are only in grade R.
They are a Cambridge school and they are an amazing school with wonderful teacher who really care about their learners.
