Don't always believe the bad stuff... go to the school yourself
Read the comments here and I have to say that you should rather just go to the school yourself and not read these comments from sour people who probably didn't pay their fees or get away with nonsense. My child has been at Boston now for 8 years. We are almost done with her school career and honestly.... the school isn't perfect, but what school is? Do they care, teach, support and love your child..... the answer is 100% yes. Do they listen and get better when you have issues or concerns.... yes. Instead of reading the good or bad.... go for yourself. Because some things I have read here are simply not true and I have been a parent here for a long time.
Started Term 1. Someone and work told me to try them after my son didn't do well last year. I didn't expect much.. but was willing to try anything. Term 1 report came and my son went from codes 2 and 3 to codes 4 and 5. Might not seem like much but for me and him... it means the world. He has ADHD and struggles to concentrate. I am very pleased with what these teachers could do in 1 Term. Thank you.
The school has such high school fees but fails to have any nice things all they have is a back grass which doesn't even get cut??? and also you can find condoms and vapes on the grass. In the men's bathroom there are no mirrors, soap and more. There's a system called the top 10 which they don't even care about. They always have favorites and it's quite annoying.Racism is very much there in the school.
Excited to start the new year. Last year was our first year with Boston and my son can't wait to start school. Teachers are lovely but honestly it is all about the small classes and the home feeling you get. He has never come home and said anything bad or even come home and said anything negative. Thankful.
Boston is different. Changed my daughter's life. Was at another school and all schools have positive and negative things. Not everything will ever be perfect but she couldn't cope and now she is so happy and loves school. The small classes help a lot. They get one on one and support classes.
A money-making machine operated as business. I would not advise you to send your child to this school. Learner discipline is a major concern, and it is not a good place to work. You need to setup assessments well in advance without knowing prospective endeavours, as teacher you are getting threatened with warnings should you look one learner from a wrong angle. Learners struggle with ADHD and as a result don't want to learn and disrespecting the teachers. Boston don't treat their staff as assets but as machines, you don't get any bonus at the end of the year either. Salaries are not as compensating either. Lack of resources and school support is not of the best. Communication from management is very bad and unsupportive.
I am learner at Boston Private. I am currently in Grade 12 and I only came here this year. I always felt different and in other schools, well in my school... You have bullying, clicks, the teachers just teach and do the bare minimum. They are ranked as good schools but they care about the clever kids. There is no time for learners who struggle. Study at home, you should have worked harder and don't make your problems theirs. They have full classes already and a lot to deal with. If you need support, get a tutor.
My parents removed me this year due to me feeling overwhelmed and with Covid and not being able to go to school all the time, I didn't want to fail Grade 12.
It is so different here. No uniform, they allow you to be yourself. They accept you with all your flaws and differences. I actually feel they embrace it and make you feel so good about yourself that you actually become better.
Every school has it flaws and believe me Boston has too. Will I pass this year? 100% NOT BECAUSE I BECAME CLEVER SUDDENLY. The teachers here care about the WHOLE you. They know personal things about you. They will make sure you are fed. The Principal knows everything and cares enough to know your likes and dislikes. She knows when you have a bad day. She will pay your Uber and she will force the teachers to stay late to give you more support. The teachers offer up their Saturdays to sit with the Grade 12s and prep them for exams. We have the teachers numbers and they do private lessons for us, even if it is over their weekends on Zoom. They send voicenotes and assist us even at night. This is more than just a building. More than just academics.
My child always struggled in main stream schools and she was broken with no confidence at all. I heard about Boston and their small classes and I thought to give it a go. She was in Grade 3 at that time. She is in Grade 8 now and I don't regret it for one second. They aren't a Curro or fancy school because it is not about looks with them. It is all about the child. To build them up and give them the confidence to do whatever they want. My daughter loves herself now. She works hard and she loves the school. The open door policy is also a big plus. If you have questions or concerns, they are always willing to help and assist.
Very very poor management. There is so little communication with teachers, always the last to find out! Teachers never work at the school for long, then they quit. There are always new people starting! The school does not buy educational resources, teachers must pay out of their own pockets if they want something. It's so frustrating. This is why there is so many fundraising all the time because the school does not want to buy anything and the teachers have to pay for everything. Its completely ridiculous, especially for a private school with such high fees! Where is the money going???? The school is run by money hungry people and even management doesn't care, they just want fat pockets.
Send your child to a private school where they actually put the fees to good use and not on lining the pockets of the people in charge.
Boston is a school where the teachers go the extra mile! They build strong relationships with the students and meet them at their point of need. The principal has an open door policy and she is always willing to listen! They always add a special touch to special experiences such as Spring day etc. Boston Private school=CARE!
If you are looking for a school where you don’t have to fit into a box, where you can actually just be you! Then Boston is that school.
Worse school hands down. They cant call themselves educators when they allow a governing body to run the school like the ANC is running this country. Pathetic....a child stands no chance to grow in that school.
I was at this school for about 4 years. Civis are a plus but that's mostly it. No lab or anything the building gets cold because there so no air con and also in summer it's hot. My grades started off well but as the teachers change it seemed to me that they sometimes dont know how to teach. But if they do they teach very badly. The grounds are not well only tin roofs they bought a field behind them but they dont really cut the grass and sometimes I found somethings I'd rather not find like people with weapons. The children at the school also dont know how to behave themselves, once the police had to come because there was illegal activity. The high school also smokes and throw it in the toilet. They dont really have any after school activities they had them for about a few months then left off with it. Do I recommend this school simple answer no.
School is good but grounds poor and no aircon in the classrooms are an absolute no no..........being a private school think they should be doing a bit better......and the era we living in and shaping futures it would help if we upgrade to using tablets and perhaps a science lab.......with the lack of the above you wouldn't think of it as a private school....love that they wear civies
Great school! Teachers are fantastic and the children get one on one attention. Teachers are very caring. Our child is in the primary school and the education is excellent. The school grounds however are not attractive. Some classes were unfinished when the year started, there is often rubble about in the drop off area. Fantastic school, but the building needs some work!
