Expensive School with Serious Issues

I am a former student of this school and unfortunately my experience there was extremely disappointing.

For the amount of school fees parents are expected to pay, the facilities and resources provided are severely lacking. In Life Sciences and Physical Sciences, equipment is either outdated or simply unavailable. During my time here, our physics teacher had to bring apparatus from another school just so we could complete required assessments. This raises a serious question about where the school fees are actually being allocated.

Sports opportunities are also unequal. The boys have a fully functioning soccer team that travels and stays over for tournaments, while girls who wanted to participate in soccer had to repeatedly request that a team be formed. Even after gathering interested and committed players, these requests were refused multiple times. This sends a discouraging message about opportunities for female students.

Many parents choose a Muslim school expecting some level of consideration for religious practices such as Ramadan. However, students were still expected to write exams at the end of a full school day while fasting. Exams could easily have been scheduled earlier in the day, as several non-Muslim schools in the area do in order to accommodate fasting students.

Another serious concern is the behaviour of some teachers. I personally witnessed extremely inappropriate conduct, including dusters, chairs and even tables being thrown in classrooms. Younger children were also struck with metal rulers. This kind of behaviour is completely unacceptable in any educational environment.

Favouritism between students is also very evident. Certain teachers tend to favour academically strong students while quickly discouraging others from continuing subjects instead of offering support or assistance. I personally witnessed students being told to drop subjects entirely rather than being helped to improve. This creates an environment where students feel belittled, afraid to ask questions, and as though they are considered “too stupid” to be in the class.

There are also serious concerns regarding the appointment of RCLs (student leaders). These positions are meant to be given to students who demonstrate leadership, integrity and serve as role models for the school. However, it is difficult not to question the selection process when students with poor behaviour are awarded RCL badges while others who are more deserving are overlooked. This raises concerns about whether connections and influence play a role in these appointments.

Staffing is also inconsistent. The school appears to rely heavily on teachers who have come out of retirement or newly qualified teachers with limited experience. While everyone needs to start somewhere, it becomes a serious issue when matric students are repeatedly switching teachers or being taught by inexperienced staff during their most important academic year.

In addition, the school has begun constructing metal container-style classrooms to accommodate students. If the school does not have the capacity or infrastructure to accommodate more learners, it should reconsider continuing to accept large numbers of new enrollments.

Another extremely concerning practice is keeping students out of class when school fees have not been paid. This is an issue that should be addressed between the school and the parents, not the child. Publicly excluding students from class over something they have no control over is humiliating and can have serious negative effects on a child’s confidence and sense of belonging.

Overall, I cannot recommend this school, especially considering the high fees that are expected from parents. Prospective families should carefully consider whether this environment truly reflects the values, educational quality and student support that they are seeking for their children.

HORRIBLE SCHOOL - AVOID AT ALL COSTS

To anyone considering this school, PLEASE THNK AGAIN.

I’m an ex student of this school which completed matric in 2013 and let me tell you about the trauma that still exists with my life till today… I’m now almost 30 years old.

I think about the abuse, mockery, bullying, favouritism and constant small mindedness of this school on a frequent basis. It has also significantly affected my overall confidence/life exposure.

There was a lot of wrong doing in this school, including drugs, illicit affairs (including formication) between teachers and students, bribery, corruption in exams/tests, theft, rape, molesting of young little boys/girls by both male and female teachers, and severe beating of students for no apparent reason.

Given the opportunity again,
I wish I had gone to a Jewish or Christian school instead. I would have been much more broad minded!

I wish I NEVER went to this horrible school.

The teachers are very arrogant and small minded, they could not even entertain a thought/idea. EVERYTHING was a major problem for them.

Here are some of the WORST TEACHERS:
Bibi Ayesha Nanabhai - My Grade 4 teacher - She was so rude and nasty to me. A true piece of trash. She never treated me in a humane way. I’m so glad to hear she can’t have children, the Lord works in mysterious ways.
Mahmoud Salloo - Very Arrogant, would not great back when I greeted him, he only would greet others. This was very hurtful.
Yusuf Aswat - Too arrogant. Very abusive with words. He needs to learn compassion. I saw him too many times belittle and dehumanise others.
Muftée Moola - A true racist at heart. May his soul burn in héyell for how he treated our fellow BLACK Muslim brothers/sisters.
Y Bhamjee - Severe anger issues, needs to calm down and have patience with slower learners. He thinks he is our lord and saviour and he invented the Qur’aan

This school does not represent Islam in any way, shape or form. These people are MUNAAFIQ’s (HYPOCRITES) of the HIGHEST calibre.

This school should instead be called BKS =
BENONI KAAFIR (NON-MUSLIM) SCHOOL

There are much better schools than this.
Please do your homework and instead look at other options for your precious child.

I am begging you.
Our society is already so messed up.
We need to move forwards as a society, not backwards.

Fees unpaid for half the year

Dear Finance Committee,

I am writing to express my deep concern and disappointment regarding the handling of the fees issue for my child. Despite a consistent payment history of 8 years, with fees paid in full between October and November, my child was kept out of class and made to sit in the oval without prior notification or communication.

I strongly believe that the contract for fees is between parents and the school, not between the child and the school. As such, I find it unacceptable that my child was treated in this manner, which I perceive as discriminatory and unethical.

Furthermore, I understand that the board has stated that they did not instruct the school to keep learners out of class, which raises serious questions about the school's actions. I intend to seek further investigation and clarification on this matter.

I would appreciate a prompt response and resolution to this issue. I believe it is essential to find a more constructive approach to handling fees issues in the future, one that prioritizes communication.

Regards

Disgusting School

If you are looking for a school filled with favouritism, corruption, discrimination then this is your place.

The school has a history of teachers being involved in ilicit affairs that are constantly covered up. The school governing body is more concerned on parents social and financial status that guides decisions and outcomes.

Bias outcomes are the order of the day with very little intention to really resolve matters but as to rather cover up the faults of the institution and teachers and place blame on others.

Paying exuberant fees doesn't equate to a quality education. Do your homework and look at other options before settling for BMS.
