Employee at APAX

Working at this school has truly been a blessing. It feels less like a workplace and more like a family. The environment is warm, supportive, and genuinely uplifting. Management treats employees with respect and appreciation, and there is a real sense of teamwork in everything we do.

The school goes above and beyond to create a positive atmosphere, not only for the students but for the staff as well. I feel valued, encouraged, and proud to be part of such a wonderful community. It's a place where you can grow, feel supported, and be surrounded by people who truly care.

Everyone is treated with respect and kindness, no matter your religion or race.
I couldn’t ask for a better place to work at.

The best choice for excellence

As a long standing parent at the school, I would not choose otherwise for my children. They have received a holistic education that has enabled them to compete with other schools in academic, cultural and sporting spheres.
We are pleased as parents with the school's affiliation with the Department of Education, Association of Muslim Schools and ISASA. This reassures us that there are stringent checks and oversight into the school's operations. Teacher training and development, working with the department gives us the confidence that teachers are abreast with requirements and that our kids aren't left behind.

From numerous events, it is evident that the school prides itself in ensuring learners and teachers maintain the best of character in their interactions with each other and the those outside of the school. Both Muslim and Non Muslim teachers have been and are part of APAX, which is essential for our learners to understand the diverse nature of the world around.

The school, as with other schools, will always have a rotation of staff. We as parents are so happy to see the school hold incompetent staff to account. We have raised concerns via email and have seen action been taken and interventions put in place. We are happy to see results and teachers been held to account, and are satisfied with the way the school has dealt with every matter.

We have seen the school grow, its based on data and sheer numbers. Along with this has been a change in management. With this change as outsiders, we can see the positive impact it has had on the school as whole.

We wish the school well, if you want a place for your child to grow in education, intrinsic good values, and take on the world. I recommend APAX.

APAX - a school of choice

I have been a parent at APAX since 2020. My kids started during the covid year and I am so grateful that we were fortunate enough to have made the move before even knowing what 2020 had in store for us as a nation and a global community.

After the first lockdown was announced by the government, the APAX leadership went all out to ensure that teaching would continue. Within a week, parents received communication and training on how to support and enable their children for online schooling. My children did not lose a day of schooling.

This is just one example of how APAX showed excellence and forward thinking in the way they approach education.

While family members and friends were losing jobs due to covid, not a single APAX staff member was let go. A friend of mine, also a parent at APAX, lost her job and the school were extremely compassionate and lenient regarding fees.

As a woman, I have always been treated with utmost respect by all the staff. The female teachers are treated with respect and reverence, this is instilled in the children as well. I see it in the way my children speak about their teachers and address them.

There is transparency at all times, including at the worst times, when teachers are let go, we are informed. My concerns have always been addressed.

Is the school perfect? No. Would I entrust any other school for my children’s education? No.

My children have made friends with children of different races and cultural backgrounds. They learn and practice respect everyday. Like all teenagers they complain about school, but they wouldn’t choose any other school.

As a parent I highly recommend APAX as a school of choice.

More Than a School: A Community of Excellence and Family

Being a parent at this school for the past few years has opened my eyes to just how much effort, dedication, and sheer hard work goes into every corner of its daily life. I no longer feel like an outsider looking in; I feel like part of a larger family that shares the same goals for our children. When people talk about teachers leaving, they often miss the bigger picture. The school runs on a clear set of policies, detailed procedures, and measurable KPIs that guide everything from classroom practice to extracurricular programmes. When a teacher’s performance falls short of those targets, the school doesn’t simply write them off—there’s a structured intervention process, extra support, and opportunities for professional development. Unfortunately, a few of teachers still don’t meet the standards, and those are the ones who tend to voice complaints outside the school walls. The teachers who stay, however, are the ones who show up every day with enthusiasm, creativity, and a genuine love for our kids, and they consistently deliver outstanding results.
If you walk into the principal’s office and his open door policy is always met, and ask for the numbers, you’ll see a story of steady growth: the school is regularly topping district and provincial rankings, and our students are excelling in both academics and sports. The athletic programmes, for example, have brought home several trophies this year, and the sense of teamwork they foster spills over into the classroom. It’s this combination of strong leadership, supportive structures, and passionate educators that makes the school stand out. I have no hesitation in saying that I would recommend this school to anyone looking for a nurturing, high‑achieving environment for their children—any day of the week.

No regrets and a wonderful school

As a parent who has been part of this school community for many years, I wanted to share my own experience. Not to argue with anyone or say they are wrong, but simply to speak about what we have seen with our own eyes as a family.

Our experience has always been that the school operates with sincerity, integrity, values, profesionalism and genuine care for both learners and teachers. The school head and SGB have brought real stability and growth over the past few years, and we can honestly see the difference in the systems, the communication, and the overall culture. Since Covic, it has been an upward trajectory. Yes, no where is anything perfect, but we have seen steady improvement and commitment from leadership.

It is also important to mention that, like any organisation, when employees are not fulfilling their duties, it must be addressed. This is not a sign of unfairness, but rather responsibility and sound leadership, because it is the future of our kids at stake. High expectations for teachers are exactly what we want as parents.

I also want to gently address the claims about religion and the treatment of non Muslim or female teachers. From what we have seen, the school has always been fair, respectful and supportive towards all staff, regardless of their background. The late Maam D, who was not a Muslim, was one of the most loved teachers in the school. She would often speak openly about how cared for and respected she felt by the learners, staff and leadership. May God grant her peace and rest her soul.

Over the years we have seen the school make a real effort to build an inclusive and respectful enviroment. Our children are witness to teachers who are dedicated, kind and ethical. We have never seen anything close to unfair advantages or inflated marks. The school’s processes are structured, and very transparent with parents. The leadership ensures regular evaluation by external bodies, and accreditors, which is a sign of transparency and vision. Anyone can reach out to the principle, specially the learners and they are attended to with love and care.

Regarding staff leaving, this happens in every school. People move on for many diferent reasons, and every time someone leaves, the school head and management always communicate with parents. In fact, these stats are shared every year, very openly, and nothing is hidden. No school is perfect, and everyone will have their own experiance, but many of us parents see a school that is striving, improving and doing its best for our children with integrity and heart. Keep up the good work APAX.

Toxic and Unqualified Management

Please think 5 times if you want to teach at this school. Positions are advertised to gain prospective teachers but when you sign the contract you are signing to teach a specialised subject you never taught before. Management decides where to place you & they don’t take NO for an answer. So the advertised position is just a bait to get people to bite. Top positions are run by unqualified individuals some don’t even have the required education degree. Jobs are advertised on ISASA but school is governed and run by the Dept of Education and CAPs based not IEB or Cambridge. Was shocked to find Government officials at the school checking teacher files. Teachers have to travel to other Govt public schools for training and development on specialised subjects and direction.

Teachers who have their children at this school inflate the marks for the kids of their colleagues. The learners also ask for the exam questions and say they get the exam questions every year so you as an outsider become unpopular if you mark them fairly and show the actual average. This has been going on for years. Top dogs will then make up stories about the learners being upset about this and make you feel bad, they say the parent complained via email but they never show you evidence of this. All very one sided. If they don’t like you for not towing the line, they will work you out of the school. When parents ask why so many teachers starting, they sugarcoat and say the school is growing, because they do not advertise all who have left! It’s a good school with good intentions by the Founders, but Founders need to re-look their current department heads. Having well qualified educated people in the right position makes a lot of difference.

Please note Non Muslim teachers must cover themselves and respect the religion but your religion and integrity is not important. Be aware of this.

Religious school but lacks integrity towards teachers, including female Muslim teachers who are treated atrociously. This was the most shocking to watch.
