This school is a nightmare disguised as a “Christian institution.” Don’t be fooled by the name or the marketing—it is the opposite of everything it claims to be. Christian values? Nonexistent. Respect, care, integrity, morality? Completely absent. Instead, it’s an environment filled with hypocrisy, neglect, and a shocking lack of accountability. Teachers who actually care about students leave as fast as they can, and they are replaced with unqualified, careless, and utterly incompetent staff who seem to exist only to clock in and collect a paycheck. Students are treated like numbers, not human beings.
Even more alarming is the behaviour of certain staff members. There is a primary school French teacher who repeatedly makes inappropriate comments to young children. This isn’t an isolated mistake—it’s a pattern, and the school actively protects him instead of protecting the children. Complaints are ignored, hushed, or covered up, leaving parents and students powerless and terrified.
Academic standards are a disaster. Results are rarely released, and when they are, they are consistently poor. Children are left behind, struggling to keep up, and parents are forced to hire external tutors just to prevent their kids from falling through the cracks. This echoes what anonymous reviewers of Alma Mater International School have reported: teachers who are unprofessional and unprepared, terrible matric results, and a school administration that prioritizes appearances over children’s safety and learning.
The environment is toxic. Students are unsafe, unsupported, and constantly exposed to careless or predatory staff. The administration is dishonest, manipulative, and more concerned with hiding failures than fixing them. The few “positive reviews” online are clearly marketing spin—they do not reflect the reality of what happens inside these walls.
This school will ruin your child academically, emotionally, and morally. If you care about safety, learning, or integrity, avoid this place at all costs. It is not just a bad school—it is a dangerous, corrupt institution that preys on children and misleads parents. Enrolling here is a mistake you cannot undo.
Im sorry for spreading misinformation about Alma Mater
Alma mater is not a school full of kids who vape, it is just false information that i said because i was mad at the school because i got caught with a vape
Expect less than 50% grade averages.
Teachers can't teach. Teachers tell students to get tutors as they are "only human" and can't be expected to teach everyone at a high standard, so its expected that most will fail, and they do.
Thank you to the extraordinary teachers at Alma Mater International School... for raising the bar! for being a cut above the rest! and for being in a league of their own! Words can never fully express our gratitude for your commitment, dedication, and hard work. #Respect.
It is our daughter's second year at Alma Mater International School and she loves it. We want her to have a respected international qualification, that universities around the world recognize. The world of work is also changing rapidly and it's important for our children to have an edge.
As parents we want the best for our children and Alma Mater International School is the BEST! The Cambridge International IGCSE is a coveted "golden ticket", it's hard work but it's worth it.
Thanks to the vision and leadership of Alma Mater International School's management, our children confidently embrace the world as global citizens.
I attended Alma Mater from grade 8 to grade 11 (2014 -2019)
When I started at Alma Mater in 2014, the school grounds and the teaching standard was amazing.
However, upon enrollment, I was promised the school had a fully kitted our music department and foreign languages avaliable.
That, was nothing but a lie.
The Cambridge syllabus is so difficult and the school offers no support to the students.
In 2018, I started grade 11, my As Levels.
At the beginning of the year, the school bullied the best biology teacher we'd ever had into quitting and in her place, hired a primary school teacher to teach As level Biology.
One after the other, our great teachers left to be replaced by teachers who could not speak English, were not qualified and on more than one occasion, were drunk at school.
We had an occasion where a teacher nearly hit a girl with his car in the parking lot when he sped into work drunk.
Another when one of the teachers used up all of the school's Wi-Fi, downloading porn.
A different teacher used to keep matric girls( who stayed in rez) in his classroom over break and later it was revieled that they were swapping intimacy for good marks in class.
The school proclaims to have a psychologist on the grounds, but she is not.
In fact, she is a mean and cruel woman bent on promoting the image of the school to the deficit of the students.
I was part of a class of 64 students, I was one of only 5 to not be on antidepressants, recommended by the so-called "psychologist".
She wore inappropriate clothing, dress so short you could see her undergarments and she'd regularly lean over and expose herself to the boys in our class.
In my matric year I had to transfer to another school just to finalize my matric.
I went from being an A student to flunking every class in Alma Mater.
The psychological damage that school did to me is immeasurable.
As a parent, you'll be paying money for Alma Mater to destroy your child.
I completed my matric at Alma Mater. The standard of education is immaculate, considering that it’s the Cambridge syllabus. However, some of the teachers are, to be blunt, unable to teach their subject. The ‘cliques’ among the teachers also poses a problem, as one could imagine, making one’s learning environment quite confrontational.
