My experience

As a person who has just matriculated from this very Institution, I'm afraid to say that be standards of this school has dropped immensely.
In terms of academics, sisterhood, management and disapline.
I'm quite disappointed with how this school has turned out to be, due to the fact that it carries a valuable reputation.
However I do have hope that one day this institution will improve its standards all round .... because to me
Northlands girls high was my dream school from grade 6, but that dream was shattered later on.
Good and dedicated teachers are al ways leaving the school , the mathematics department is in shambles and the disapline within the students is just awful.
However I am Greatful that I was exposed to many great extra mural activities in this school, because they do pretty well in that department.
But overall I hope this school goes back to how it was before , academically excellent, grooming ladies who are poised for excellence, well mannered and just admirable.

DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO THIS HELL

I'm currently in the school, I won't specify my grade just because if they see this they will target us. This school has to be one of the worst schools I've been to, teachers are extremely rude along with the students. I want to leave that school so badly but my parents won't let me because the school looks really good from the outside and teachers have a fake personality around parents. Do not send your kids to this school!!
There was an incident where a teacher told a student to die. Once there were MEN in the restroom.
An absolutely horrible school that has no concern whatsoever for their students

Do not go!!

I went to Northlands for 2 years (2020-2021) than I had enough. The teachers aren't the greatest (I had 3 teacher I liked) they are rude and can be very nasty even in front of the whole class (I witnessed this multiple times). It seems like they are always annoyed and just take it out on the students. They aren't always clued up on what's happening, there was a learner in my class who left the school, and for the rest of the year they kept calling her in attendance. The actual students aren't the nicest (very few actually are!) and are sometimes just plain mean!!!, there are lots of cases of bullying. There were instances where teachers would be rude if a student didn't understand the work and asked a question. The homework load an be a lot but that is the case with most schools. I read other reviews and agree, don't send your child here.

The bullying within

There's so many problems in the school. The teachers can't handle us properly and the girls in the school are terrible. They all spread rumours, they gossip about you, the bullying never ends. I would not recommend sending your child here. It will crush her personality.

DO NOT SEND YOUR DAUGHTER TO NGHS, PLEASE

I'm currently a student at nghs in grade 8. PLEASE IF YOURE THINKING ABOUT HIGHSCHOOL FOR YOUR CHILD SEND HER ANYWHERE BUT HERE. I made the mistake of not listening to my mum and going to Danville like she wanted because on the road show I liked it. The teachers are hateful, very passive agressive and overall agressive and mean in general. They are not helpful at all and ignore requests and complaints from parents. From my experience I was sick one day and asked my grade head if I could go home (seeing as we are in a pandemic and I wouldnt want to make anyone sick) she didnt do anything so I texted my mother. At the end of the day I was called to my homeroom and screamed at. My mom was calling to ask if she could fetch me early and they said not until school was over. I was basically held captive with a headache and nausea during a pandemic in school till 2:30.

Please this school is not how they make it out to be, be smart and send your daughter to a school that actually cares.

I'm transferring and I've only been here for 2 terms.

Do not make the same mistake you will be miserable.

#1 Issue: Unprofessional Teachers !!!!!

My experience with most the teachers was one of the most negative things I've had to deal with while being a student at this school. They really didn't know how to separate personal issues from their work and as a result they would take their anger and frustrations out on students who have nothing to do with these personal issues. They would usually make passive-aggressive remarks about students in front of the class, and in some cases they would even humilate students in front of the entire class. The next main issue, there was one subject where the grade average was 50%, at that point, the teachers also needed to start holding themselves accountable and instead they shifted the blame towards the students (when the teachers for this subject never bothered doing their jobs), and when we would ask for help, they just ignored us. Lastly, there was also a lot of favouritism in the classroom (teachers treating certain students better than others, and in most cases race does play a huge part in this).

The only good thing I have to say about this school was the fact that I had amazing and supportive friends which made my overall experience better.

Worst all girls high school

I began my scholar experience in Northlands Girls High School in grade 10 and it was the worst experience of my life. There is a lot of favoritism as well as racism from the teachers. Bullying is a huge problem in the school and I was a victim, when parents as well as learners complain the about how they are treated it is totally overlooked. Don’t send your daughter to northlands unless she has a strong personality and is able to stand up for herself from day 1

My school is great
You learn to socialize really well
The teaching and education offered at the school is excellent
All teachers are patient with you and have time to explain something if you didnt understand or need further understanding

And most importantly
ITS FUN!!!

A Place I Called Home

NGHS provides their girls with a sisterhood that is incomparable to any other high school I’ve attended. My time there provided me with endless opportunities that have molded me into who I am today as a young woman. With every struggle and every victory, I was never alone.

The integrity, commitment and compassion that is instilled in every young woman at Northlands helped me become the absolute best version of myself, and with the support of everyone around me, i was able to build confidence like never before.

This institution gave me more than an education: it gave me a home.
